The BreathKey digital keychain breathalyzer is the world’s smallest and lightest breathalyzer available. Measuring just over 2 inches tall and weighing only 6 ounces, this will easily fit in a pocket, purse, or on a keychain without being a nuisance. That’s about ¼ the size of regular breathalyzers. I have yet to find another breathalyzer that can be carried around as easy as the BreathKey. By keeping it on your keychain, it will always be available before you get into your car so you can measure your blood alcohol content quickly and accurately.

Don’t let the size fool you though. The quality and accuracy of this keychain breathalyzer matches or comes close to that of more expensive personal and professional breathalyzers. The BreathKey uses advanced fuel cell sensor technology to quickly and accurately measure your blood alcohol content. Just a simple push of a single button and your breathalyzer test results appear on the digital readout in seconds. This is one of the simplest and easiest to use breathalyzers on the market. Just blow, push, and wait a few seconds for the results.

How to Build Your Own Breathalyzer

A product so amusing even 6 year olds will want to start drinking. Check out the video of these girls from UCSD who took the initiative to hack robotic toy dogs and build a fully functional breathalyzer.  When the robotic dogs sense alcohol on your breath they play music and the lights flash.  Depending on the results of your breathalyzer test, the music changes between happy and ominous.

Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be another accessory to click, stick, or glue to your iPod, out comes the new iBreath alcohol breathalyzer. This tiny personal breathalyzer plugs directly into your iPod so that you can carry it with you. The iBreath only measures about 1 inch in height, but fits quite well when plugged into an iPod. The matte black interface is both aesthetically pleasing and simple to use.

The iBreath alcohol breathalyzer is interesting and possibly useful on a daily basis in that it has a working FM transmitter built in so that it can play your iPod music over the radio. Since many users purchase a FM transmitter anyways, you could get the added breathalyzer functionality for about the same price. That is, if care to ignore the stigma of always carrying a breathalyzer around in your pocket.
