Review: iBreath iPod Breathalyzer
March 1, 2007
Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be another accessory to click, stick, or glue to your iPod, out comes the new iBreath alcohol breathalyzer. This tiny personal breathalyzer plugs directly into your iPod so that you can carry it with you. The iBreath only measures about 1 inch in height, but fits quite well when plugged into an iPod. The matte black interface is both aesthetically pleasing and simple to use.
The iBreath alcohol breathalyzer is interesting and possibly useful on a daily basis in that it has a working FM transmitter built in so that it can play your iPod music over the radio. Since many users purchase a FM transmitter anyways, you could get the added breathalyzer functionality for about the same price. That is, if care to ignore the stigma of always carrying a breathalyzer around in your pocket.
- Pass through dock allows you to plug or dock iPod in without removing the breathalyzer
- Wireless FM transmitter to play music over the radio
- Runs off iPod’s power, no batteries needed
Although the iBreath breathalyzer only measures blood alcohol content in the range of 0.0 – 0.12, it could still be useful. Given that it works only with an iPod, which are more popular with then younger crowd, I think this breathalyzer will end up being used more as a toy than a tool. This breathalyzer is definitely a unique gadget.
The iBreath alcohol breathalyzer is currently available from David Steele.
